A Major Scale
The A major scale contains the notes A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G#. With three sharps and the root on the open A string, it's one of the most natural major scales to play on guitar.

About this scale
A major is the relative major of F# minor. The open A string serves as the root, and the scale sits naturally across the neck in several comfortable positions. It's a foundational scale for country, pop, and rock playing.
The diatonic chords of A major are A, Bm, C#m, D, E, F#m, and G#dim | giving you bright, strong chord progressions. The I–IV–V (A–D–E) is one of the most used progressions in all of popular music.
